KYLEE DAYNE

ABOUT THE WORK

By closely watching the world that surrounds us, we can deepen our understanding of ourselves, others, and the interactions and relationships we all have.  Through photography I explore social interactions, the individual experience compared to the collective, and the implications of cultural structures like language.  I find and fabricate moments of reality that highlight the flaws, tendencies, and emotions within people that tend to go unrecognized.

I capture found moments, objects, and subjects I wish to hold on to for longer than a moment.  Simultaneously, I create photographs inspired by the ones I have found to better articulate my own perspective and the abstract concepts tied to the image. Technically, this translates to constructing scenes to photograph, as well as experimenting with the images after they’ve been taken. Together, my found and fabricated imagery replicate a sort of cause-and-effect diagram – the occurrence and my reaction.
